Country Livin'

Every now and then, living in NYC gets to my head... it's too crowded, too crazy, too much and all I want is a big, cozy house somewhere quiet.  So, it's really one of my dreams, when I'm doing all that grown-up stuff like getting married and having kids, to relocate to my dream house out in some country landscape and decorate it with vintage and antique nicknacks.  I'll raise little hippie children who will help me garden and help me cook breakfast in a big kitchen on Sunday mornings while listening to Emmylou Harris, Linda Rondstat, Neil Young and Townes Van Zandt. Here is some of my inspiration from the Selby blog - I swear, I live by it...

Monday Dreamboat

It's that time of the week again and boy do I have a treat for you!
I recently watched Paris, Je T'aime to help aid my excitement for New York, I Love You and actually fell in love with a young actor featured in Gus Van Sant's segement  Le Marais.  His name is Gaspard Ulliel and he is breathtaking... and FRENCH, which makes him that much dreamier.
Have a lovely day... XOXO

Stylish Swede

My new style icon?  Filippa Berg... Swedish stylist, model, and fashion editor of free Swedish magazine iCity.  She's beautiful and refers to her personal style as "psychedelic schoolgirl"... lately she was featured on the Sartorialist with completely patchworked vintage Levi jeans and received a few harsh comments but to me she's a young Swedish boho-chic sprite who's just experimenting with youthful styles and fun.  Check 'er out, she's a sight to be seen! Okay, tiresome day but had a beautiful trip to the Farmer's Market on Columbus Avenue.  Off to rest with white wine and the True Blood finale!! XOXO

Une Belle Année

I recently discovered the French Vogue 2009 Calendar and even though I'm a couple months late, I love it!  Photographed by downtown hipster and artworld guru Terry Richardson and styled by Ed-in-Chief Carine Roitfeld, the models take on a even sexier, more vamped up twist on classic pin-up style.

*Aline!! I worked with her the other day at Fashion Week - she's a doll and ultra-cool.

So sexy yet so chic! Love it! Have a sweet Sunday! XOXO

Orbs and Philosophers

I'm really into this s/s 2010 promo video for Libertine by designer Johnson Hartig.  It's just loads of fun...a celebration of youth-in your face-who gives a f**k-let's dance, kinda vibe... The models are gorgeous and have adorable personality which I absolutely love... they juxtapose a surfer-esque demeanor with high end fashion in a beautiful LA house (respectively the designer's) and use all its amenities from the china tea cup set to the minimalist chic outdoor pool.  Hartig's inspiration for the s/s line comes from a book about the history of philosophers and a personal roadtrip where he stayed in a haunted hotel with friends.  During this trip, Hartig became a believer of orbs *hence the title of the collections: Orbs and Philosophers.  Talk about imagination...perhaps Hartig has tapped into something: that the philosophy of fashion is outlandish imagination, fun and youth, saying f**k no to all the rules and creating something truly out of this world, full of energy, light and charge like an orb.
Will be at the Fashion Week tents tonight... so incredibly excited!  Hope you lovelies have a fantastic friday! XOXO

Tickle Me Pink

I usually like to blog only 1 post a day EXCEPT when I find something TRULY special.  I am a Selby addict... I love how Tom Selby goes into people's homes and photographs their unique and usually undeniably chic havens.  One of his most recent subjects and settings was model, muse and designer Ines de la Fressange's Paris office.  Her bubblegum pink walls are delightful and the fashion world/cultural paraphernalia that covers her walls are any girl's fantasy.  Also, I adore her fuschia orchids.

Clearly, Mme. Fressange has made her office a truly special solace to work, play and be downright girly.  Love it!
Have a nice evening darlings! XOXO

Quelqu'un m'a dit

The song "Quelqu'un m'a dit" by France's first lady and gorgeous chanteuse Carla Bruni was featured in 500 Days of Summer... Though the lyrics are a bit pessimistic ("People tell me that our lives are not worth much, they pass in one short moment just like roses do..."), the song is absolutely beautiful and dreamy and offers a sweet outlook on love and its power as a saviour and guide through life. Bruni's breathless, sweet voice is perfect for a nice sunny morning or a long drive through the country.  Enjoy the day!  All my love.. XOXO

lookin' for fun and feelin' groovy!

My best friend Brielle just recently moved to Long Island City and when she told me all I could do was laugh... who can live in LONG ISLAND CITY and still call themselves a CITY GIRL? But her apartment is the most beautiful thing ever! We had a great day exploring and shared a bottle of white wine, and if anyone is ever in LIC, go to Cafe Henri and get the saffron mussels!!!
brie and her cutie companion murphy:
her view:
we walked right under the pepsi sign and gazed at the 59th street bridge:
I was just so surprised how beautiful the area was... and I am so happy I got to explore another part of my beloved city!  Also I saw 500 Days of Summer today and fell in love...such an adorable film...

Beatriz Milhazes

I love these colorfully vivid paintings by Brazilian artist Beatriz Milhazes.  They remind me of childhood wonder yet are hip and fast-paced.  I would love one hanging on a stark white wall.

Yesterday I watched this fantastic movie called Who Loves the Sun.  It stars Lukas Haas, Molly Parker and Adam Scott.  It's about friendship, betrayal, love, heartbreak, competition and all that kinda stuff... I strongly suggest it - the soundtrack is killer and the movie is shot against the Canadian Shield which is absolutely breathtaking.  At one point in the film Adam Scott says to Lukas Haas's character "You can't always get what you want..." and an enraged/frustrated Lukas yells back "Yeah, well if you try sometimes, you get what you fuckin' need!"  It's a classic Stones reference and I giggled a bit.  Overall, the film is extremely thoughtful and heart-warming and a pleasure to watch.
Okay lovelies... have a sweet sweet day! XOXO

happy labour day to all, enjoy a nice day free of stress, outside in the beautiful sunshine! to enjoy it even more, i've attached a few images of the lovely Jakob Dylan... son of Bob, and frontman to the Wallflowers.  I've been listening to Jakob's music forever and adore his voice and Americana lyrics.  Plus, he's positively dreamy!  ENJOY!
