Happy Thanksgiving all! I am thankful for my beautiful family & friends, New York City, laughter, coffee, wine, olives, cupcakes, cute boys, art, cashmere sweaters, Woody Allen movies, great shoes, curiosity, the moon, the ocean, nature, Vogue, rock n' roll & the opportunities, chances, and excitement of every single day. I will be enjoying turkey, asparagus (my favourite!!), pie and wine at my lovely grandmother's on the Upper East Side :)
Geez Louise, I am so very excited for the new Vampire Weekend Album Contra. You can download their song Horchata for free and I highly recommend you do that after watching their video for their song Cousins. Every girl loves a bookish boy, and in the case of VW - you get 4 of 'em! I love the album art - she looks like she stepped out of Beverly Hills or Princeton, NJ circa 1984. And! she's wearing Ralph Lauren :)
Have a lovely Sunday lovelies!
Off to the Farmer's Market, Flea Market, and Flower Market for moi! xxoo
My dear friend Sarah has a birthday coming up and I am throwing her a little surprise cocktail party that will really center around cocktails (think Kiwi Lillet Gimlets and Meyer Lemon Collins) since I doubt anyone will be able to eat after the Thanksgiving food coma ensues. SO, I'm revamping my living room into a girlie wonderland with fake flowers, a bright table cloth and a tray of all shades of lipstick and lipgloss for everyone to try on. Then, I'm putting on lots of Rilo Kiley, Vampire Weekend's new album and Feist and taking many pictures of my gorgeous friends.
Even though the party is a week away, I am SO very excited. Suggestions are very welcome...
Linda and John Meyers are geniuses! Check out the AMAZING interiors they are responsible for... I can't decide if I rather live in the YSL inspired citrus loft of a French DJ in Bklyn OR the shabby chic Maine sea cabin. I threw in the painted radiator for kicks - I lololove it! Like an indoor sun!
I am so very excited for the new Almodovar flick Broken Embraces starring one of my favourites, Penelope Cruz. Almodovar is known for his thrilling, sexy, and totally innovative films which, additionally, are undeniably stylish. Penelope has been his leading lady quite a few times and he always manages to make her look her breathtaking (as if it's THAT hard). Anyway, I encourage all of you to see it and to watch a couple of Almodovar's pictures (I love Bad Education and Volver) just so you can get yourself "prepared" for the craziness that will most likely ensue.
The Holiday Season means many Holiday Cocktail Parties and I am thinking that what better way to look classically gorgeous than investing in one or two delicious black dresses and piling on colorful and sparkle pops through chunky cocktail rings? I love these from Free People... the RL stylists do an awesome job, but NO ONE does it like the Free People team. I salivate while looking at their catalogs... the cutest of the cute AND the comfiest of the cozy.
Doing my model research for an upcoming RL shoot, I stumbled upon these pics. I love love love these photos of model Emma Balfour shot by Terry Richardson and styled by Emmanuelle Alt. I literally want to be this character - dressed up in a gorgeous Penny Lane-esque fur jacket, taking dreamy photographs and chilling out in nature and basking in all its glory. She reminds me of a modern day Anita Pallenberg (my personal style hero; now and forever). She's tough but feminine, solitary but having fun. The simplicity of the landscape and the styling transcend to a timeless edge, and I really really adore it all.
Lazy Saturday! Right now coffee & toast, later: who knows?
Don't all these images have such an Americana feel? I'm feelin' a bit patriotic... Georgia O'Keefe's painting Cow's Skull: Red, White, and Blue (the last image) conveys O'Keefe's symbolic America - she represents the nation through the weathered cow skull that has endured so much and will continue to do so. From blue jeans, to vintage cars, to summer days, to music legends and tragedies like Gram Parsons, each picture displays its endurance and classic American flair... and I think that is really something special.
J'adore the Stella McCartney for Gap Kids line! I wish I had a little kiddie so I could dress them up in every single piece of the collection. OR I wish that I was itty bitty so I could wear the cashmere leopard tunic or the Balmain-esque Sergeant Pepper jacket. I also love love love the whimsical advertising; so darling - the models are such cooooool kids. Now, I'm relaxing over a glass of vino rojo... Had a great day of boot trying-on (finally found a kick ass knee-high pair; eek sorry bank account) and flea market browsing!
I absolutely adore these images... the female characters in them are intriguing and stunning. From the black and white image of Bardot to the practically neon painted girl, every single photograph exudes a lovely lure or magic and dazzling elegance.
